The Met Office have forecast cross-country showers as rainy weather sweeps across the country.

After today's sunny weather, from tomorrow, rain will be widespread across the country as rain clouds move in from the south west of England before moving in across the rest of the UK throughout the day.

Showers will be most widespread in Scotland and Northern Ireland throughout the day with intermittent rain elsewhere.

The temperature of Tuesday is barely going to go above double digits across most of Britain. Temperatures in northern Scotland could be as cold 0C (32F)

According to the Met Office, the rainy weather is due to an area of low pressure drifting towards the UK throughout today which is carrying the rain clouds with it.

The wet weather is forecast to continue throughout the rest of the week with rain forecast across the country up until Friday where the rain should start to clear up.

However, don't put away your raincoat or umbrella just yet as going into next week Britain could see more rain. There is even a chance of some frost and fog with rain more focused than usual in the south of England.

In some good news, the temperature will rise towards the end of the week and Friday London could be as warm as 13C (55.4F).
