Thugs May Hijack August 1 Protest - Says Adamawa Police Command

The Adamawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force has expressed concerns that the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, may be hijacked by thugs.

The police command cautioned citizens of the state and the general public to shun the planned nationwide demonstration, stressing that the exercise may turn against the protesters.

“Adamawa State Police Command does not encourage protests because of its potential to get out of hand,” the Command said in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday morning by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.

Naija News understands that the Command recently met with Adamawa stakeholders to discuss the scheduled protest and emphasized in its statement that any demonstration resulting in violence, loss of life, or damage to public or private property will not be tolerated.

“The proposed nationwide protest has the potential to go wrong and turned into violence by thugs; that is the hard truth,” the Command stated further, urging all residents of Adamawa State to avoid anything that could lead to harming themselves and others.

“Please, think and act wisely. Never embark on an action that has the potential to get out of hand,” the Police stressed.

Warn Your Children Against Protest In Lagos – Tinubu’s Daughter Tells Market Women

Meanwhile, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu and Iyaloja General of Lagos State, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has warned parents to stop their children from participating in the planned nationwide protest set to hold on August 1.

Speaking via a viral video, Tinubu-Ojo insisted that the Lagos State Government has made significant progress and deserves support.

She begged Nigerians to give the Federal Government, headed by her father, time to prove itself before it is criticised.

Tinubu-Ojo made the remarks on Sunday while speaking with market women in Yoruba.

She urged the market women to warn their children about the dangers of joining the #ENdBadGovernance protest.

In the video, Tinubu-Ojo said in Yoruba, “Let’s talk to ourselves, our children and our families that there is nothing like protesting in Lagos, it is just a ploy to destroy the country. See the last protest and the damage that was caused. Let’s not because a party is paying some people to fight, let’s not allow our children to participate.”

Speaking in English language she said, “There is nothing like protest in Lagos State because the government of Lagos State is making us proud. They are making us happy, they give us a sense of belonging.

“The government at the center just assumed office. Before you say a government is not doing well, let it last three years, at least.

“Prevention is better than treatment. We will not suffer loss of lives. Let everyone warn her children.”
