An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering father-of-seven Colin Richards in Cardiff.

Corey Gauci, of Wilson Road, Ely, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court earlier, speaking only to confirm his name, age and address.

Mr Richards, 48, was found unconscious in Snowdon Road, Ely, at about 23:30 BST on 7 April.

Police attended following a report of a disturbance in the Heol-Y-Berllan and Heol Trelai area.

Mr Richards, described by his family as a much-loved father and grandfather and an "all-round family man", died after being stabbed in the leg while waiting in a car for his friend, an inquest previously heard.

Mr Gauci will appear before Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday.
