In an interview with Hip TV, Skales shared his perspective, emphasizing that everything in life has its season and time.

He believes Wizkid’s comment stems from the current decline in hip-hop’s popularity compared to its heyday.

Skales argued that if everyone adopts Wizkid’s viewpoint, they’ll soon declare afrobeats or amapiano dead too.

He stated:

“Everyone has their opinion, and Wizkid has his. But for me, everything has its time and season. What’s popular today may not be tomorrow. If it’s rap today, it might be Afrobeats tomorrow, and Amapiano the next. I won’t say hip-hop is dead; it’s just not its time anymore. The excitement shifts elsewhere. Soon, they’ll say Afrobeats is dead. It’s about timing; nothing lasts forever. That’s why we all die one day.”
