The remains of a man whose torso was found wrapped in plastic have been identified, police say

A man whose torso was discovered wrapped in plastic at a nature reserve has been identified by police.

The remains of Stuart Everett, aged 67, who resided in Salford, were first found on wetlands at Kersal Dale on 4 April.

A police spokesman said DNA samples of the remains had "been sent away for urgent forensic analysis".

Two men are due before Manchester Crown court later accused of murder.

The spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said remains found at three other locations in Salford were still to be tested, but the force was "confident they belong to the same victim".

He added: "Specially trained Family Liaison Officers from GMP have been deployed to support Stuart's family during this incredibly difficult time, in the last 48 hours they have heard the most devastating news that anyone could hear, and our thoughts remain with them as they begin to process this."

On Saturday a further package containing body parts was found at Linnyshaw Colliery Woods, before more remains were discovered at Blackleach Reservoir, also in Salford, on Sunday.

A search was conducted at an industrial lock-up in Bury, while body parts were also discovered close to a railway line near Worsley Road in Eccles, where officers had been seen searching a house over the weekend.
