The Osun State Government has directed that the curfew earlier imposed on both Ilobu and Ifon-Osun communities be lifted effective Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
According to the state government, the decision was made following a semblance of peace and orderliness in the communities.
In a statement by Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state government urged residents of both communities to go about their normal private and business transactions without any hindrance or restriction of any kind.
Part of the statement partly reads: “Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has viewed with satisfaction the return of peace to Ifon and Ilobu communities in Irepodun Local Government Area.”
It further states: “While the Osun State Government truly acknowledges that lasting peace and order may seem to have been restored, 24-hour surveillance should still be strictly observed and maintained by the eagle-eyed joint security task force in the two communities.”
DAILY POST recalls that the Osun State Government, in the wake of communal tensions between both communities, imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in both communities.
As the tensions widened, the state government later imposed a total curfew on both communities in October 2023.
