The Public Relations Officer for the Eastern District of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, (NRC), Dr. Onyedikachi Stanley Onovo, has assured passengers of their safety following the commencement of Port Harcourt-Aba train operations.
Speaking on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, Mr. Onovo confirmed that commercial services will commence on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He emphasized that security measures are in place, including collaboration with the railway commands of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to guarantee passenger safety.
Additionally, Mr Onovo expressed concern about the rampant vandalism of railway tracks, describing it as a ‘great challenge’. He urged local communities to actively participate in safeguarding government facilities within their vicinity.
