The hotspots for car accidents outside of London have been revealed with drivers across the UK facing danger on the roads.
Drivers in Hull are the most likely to be injured in car accidents, according to new research by accident injury lawyers Simpson Millar, with a shocking 274 accidents for every 100,000 people.
Compiled using 10 years of road traffic accident data from the Department for Transport, the stats make Hull the worst area for accidents in England and Wales outside of London despite being the fourth-largest city in Yorkshire and the Humber region.
In worse news for drivers in Hull, the number of crashes has been on the rise over the past three years, after experiencing a drop off during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Second to Hull is Powys, the most dangerous place to drive in Wales with 134k crashes taking place over the last decade.
Hull and Powys came out on top for England and Wales, having the most accidents outside of the capital.
The worst areas for car accidents are all boroughs in London, according to Department for Transport data
Drivers in the Welsh county face 258 accidents for every 10,000 of the population.
Coming third, North East Lincolnshire recorded 610 crashes in the last year, with 255 accidents for every 100,000 occupants in the area.
The region experiences 280% more crashes than Wigan, which is the safest area to drive in.
The North West town boasts the safest roads outside of the capital, with 84 crashes for every 10,000 occupants.
London's local borough's were the areas most at risk from car accidents across the UK.
The most dangerous borough's included the City of London, Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea.
Previously, the UK's speeding hotspots were exposed, with Warwickshire, Devon and Cornwall and Greater London having the highest ratio of speeding offences.
