A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a 50-year-old man was found in a park in Staffordshire this morning.

Staffordshire Police were called to Queen Elizabeth Park, in Newcastle-under-Lyme at around 8am on Sunday.

Police said a 50-year-old man had been found dead at the scene on Silverdale Road.

A 30-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told StokeonTrent Live: 'Just before 7.45am we were called to Queen Elizabeth Park, on Silverdale Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, following reports a body had been found. Sadly, the body of a man in his 50s was found at the scene.

'A 30-year-old woman, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Officers remain at the scene.
