Celebrity stylist Daniel Galvin Jr who created King Charles' baby shampoo range and coloured hair for royals, Johnny Depp and Kylie Minogue is fined £15,000 for employing an illegal migrant worker in his Belgravia salon

A celebrity hairdresser with links to King Charles III and a host of huge stars has been fined for employing an illegal worker at his flagship London salon, MailOnline can reveal today.

Colourist to the stars, Daniel Galvin Jr MBE, 53, was given a £15,000 penalty last year and his luxury Belgravia base was named and shamed on a UK Visa and Immigration civil penalties list.

His high-end salon in central London is listed alongside other businesses that were caught contravening immigration rules including takeaways, car washes, corner shops and care homes.

The Home Office has not published details of the case between July and September last year, which was dealt with by the department which fines companies using undocumented foreign workers.

Daniel is one of the biggest names in British hairdressing. His clients include Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Kelly Brook, Amanda Holden, Holly Valance, Louis Walsh and Trevor Eve. Hollywood stars using his expertise include Johnny Depp and Sharon Osbourne.

Galvin Jr also employs disadvantaged young people as part of his role as ambassador for the Prince's Trust and helped the King create his Highgrove Baby organic hair and skincare range.  The Monarch is said to be a fan of Galvin Jr's Ginger and Lime Shampoos.

MailOnline has approached Mr Galvin Jr to comment. His father, Daniel Sr, made his name as Princess Diana's colourist and gave her her trademark blonde streaks. He also styled Lady Thatcher's hair. 

Against his father's wishes, Daniel Jnr left the family business years ago to join a rival salon, before setting up on his own. It regularly features on Made in Chelsea. 

Visa and Immigration expert Yash Dubal, director of A Y & J Solicitors, said: 'The onus is firmly on employers and as the case of Mr Galvin Jr shows, it doesn't matter whether you run a royal hair salon or car wash in Wigan, you will be fined even if you are hoodwinked by fake documents and dishonest declarations. 

'The government is fully committed to its stated aim of reducing illegal migration and this is one of the methods it is using. The number of raids and compliance visits has rocketed and there are no excuses or second chances for those found to be in contravention of the rules, whether wittingly or accidentally. 

'It is incumbent on business owners to make sure all the necessary documents are valid and up to date. Some of the fines we will start to see now the rates have tripled could potentially put people out of business.' 

During the period in which Galvin Jr’s firm was employing the worker, between July 1 and September 30 last year, fines were issued up to £20,000 per illegal worker. One business, V Care Carers in Ashton-on-Ribble, Lancashire, was fined an eye-watering £350,000. 

In February fines for employing illegal workers tripled under the biggest shake up of civil penalties in almost a decade. 

The crackdown was introduced as part of the Government’s pledge to stop illegal immigration with little leniency for employers who inadvertently employ illegal migrants or forget to do the necessary checks.

Daniel Jr has had a tumultuous few years, which saw salons struggle in the pandemic.

In his personal life there have also been some bumps in the road.

In 2021 MailOnline revealed he had split with his wife after more than 20 years of marriage.

The society stylist split with former model Suzanna Galvin. 

Suzanna is a celebrated designer responsible for the interiors of her husband's high-end Belgravia salon.

She had been married to the renowned hairdresser since 2000 and they had been something of a golden couple, feted by royalty and high society and featuring in publications like Hello magazine where their glamorous lifestyle was detailed.

The high-profile stylist, who was awarded an MBE for his work with The Prince's Trust, became personal friends with Prince Charles, who invited him to collaborate on charity projects at his Highgrove estate, as well as other members of the royal family like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Daniel, who in younger days had a chronic cocaine addiction and was a regular at hedonistic Mayfair nightclub Annabel's, would often post gushing tributes to the 'love of my life' Suzanna in the first months of lockdown.

On Valentine's Day 2020 he wrote: 'Punched above my weight 26 years ago with this beautiful creature,inside and out!! Excited to be spending our 26th valentine's weekend with my soul mate, Suzanna, together in the countryside. Filled with love in our garden…..Love you truly, deeply, madly as ever!'

In May 2021 he wrote: 'I feel very grateful to be in lockdown in my countryside home with my stunning wife and muse Suzanna. She is the love of my life and without her I would not be where I am now.'

And in June 2021 he called her 'My love, My Wife, My Life' as they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, adding: 'I wouldn't be here without her love, patience, self-determination, intelligence and unconditional support. She is truly beautiful, inside and out. I'm so proud of everything she has achieved and she is the most wonderful wife and mother.'

But as summer turned to autumn the loving tributes began to stop and there were signs that the marriage when the Galvin family celebrated his MBE at Buckingham Palace and Suzanna was absent.

The hairdresser took his mother Mavis and celebrated at top London restaurant Mosimann's. He told an interviewer: 'There was only one woman I wanted with me – and that was my mother.'

Mr Galvin Jnr is the owner of award-winning haircare ranges Dubble Trubble and Organic Head and runs a salon in a listed building in Belgravia London.

He is the fourth generation of his family to run hair salons in London. His father Daniel Galvin Snr famously gave Diana, Princess of Wales, blonde streaks and styled Lady Thatcher's hair.

Daniel Jr spent his 20s battling a £1,000-a-day cocaine addiction before his drug problems ended in 1998 with a six-month stint at Narconon, a 'non-medical' rehabilitation facility in America, based on the philosophies of L. Ron Hubbard.

He has a son, Rhett, in his twenties together and Suzanna has another son from her first marriage, Raphael Yadgaroff, who was accused of assaulting the hairdresser in a case that was later dropped.

Mr Yadgaroff was accused of attacking  Daniel Jr during a blazing row at the family's luxury 200-year-old farmhouse. Police were called after Daniel was allegedly set upon by his stepson.

Mr Yadgaroff appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court where he formally denied assaulting his stepfather - and the case was adjourned for a full trial.

But the assault charge was later dropped by prosecutors at Worcestershire Magistrates Court. 

Galvin Jnr himself appeared in court in the town himself in 2008 - and was emotional after being cleared at nearby Worcester Crown Court of an attack upon farming neighbours with an air rifle and rocks.

He was handed a suspended jail term over lesser chargers relating to a bitter boundary dispute but this was later quashed on appeal.
