Great chances for Bournemouth to make it two - Kluivert is played clear down the left side and he looks up to spot Dom Solanke unmarked in the centre.

It isn’t the perfect ball but Solanke can get the shot away and it’s blocked by James Trafford.

Moments later and Marcus Tavernier shoots into the side-netting from Semenyo’s perfect knock-down.

Alex Scott on the charger the first time and he reaches the Burnley byline before Sander Berge eventually wins their tussle. Little nudge from the Burnley man and Scott goes down a bit too easily.

Bruun Larsen came closest from a free-kick that Neto had to claw out, while Fofana was denied when clean through.

Burnley will certainly feel there’s a way back into the contest even if the scoreline is a bit depressingly familiar at the moment.

Semenyo needs to be careful as he pushes Esteve overdo halt the Burnley man’s run towards Bournemouth’s box. Semenyo booked a few minutes ago.

Burnley pushing hard now - Vitinho gets up highest from Taylor’s cross and his header isn’t too far away. Fofana was coming in for a header right behind him and might have been better placed.

Well struck from Bruun Larsen, curling towards goal with pace, and it’s a really good save by Neto who claws it out just as it looked to have beaten him.

Turned out Odobert had just kicked the ground and sent himself off balance, so referee David Coote not falling for it.

Burnley looking to respond and they win themselves a corner through Odobert’s persistence.

It’s taken short and flashed right across the box where opportunity knocks as Maxime Esteve swings his foot at it. Misses the ball, though, and Bournemouth rush it to safety.

A VAR penalty check after Semenyo slid in on Taylor inside the box - quickly cleared and replays show that Semenyo got his challenge absolutely spot-on.

Terrific composure by Kluivert to finish that having broken in behind and then spun around Dara O’Shea but the lead-up was just far too simple for Bournemouth.

Such a familiar story for Burnley, who don’t deal with the hooked ball down the right hand side by Cook, it bounces kindly but nobody reacts and Kluivert brought the ball down nicely to smash home.

An injury blow here for Bournemouth as Marcos Senesi has picked up an early knock and needs to go off.

Chris Mepham is the man on to replace him at the back.

The first time Bournemouth get forward as Marcus Taverner skins Assignon a little too easily down the left side. A dangerous cross right into Burnley’s penalty box and Taylor does well to defuse it.

Actually a much better defensive action by Taylor on second viewing - it was right in front of an guarded net as he stepped in to clear.

Chants of ‘no nay never’ from the home fans as Charlie Taylor wins a free-kick in a useful position after Lewis Cook tripped him.

Jacob Bruun Larsen delivers but the routine is a little too fancy for it’s own good and Bournemouth head away well.

This is a really lively start by the Clarets - Odobert steps onto the cut-back from the right side by Lorenz Assignon having peeled away from his markers but not enough power and Neto gets down to save, diving to his right.

Burnley have only suffered one defeat in 14 previous home league meetings with Bournemouth - winning seven and drawing six. That was a 2-1 defeat on the final day of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.

Having won the reverse fixture 2-1 in October, Bournemouth are aiming to record their first-ever league double over Burnley.

Burnley have lost 10 of their 13 Premier League home games this season (winning one and drawing two) - it’s their joint-most home defeats they’ve ever suffered in a single league campaign (also 10 in 2018-19).

The Clarets have conceded at least three goals in 11 of their 26 Premier League games this season, more than any other side and almost twice as many games as when they suffered relegation in 2021-22 (six).

Bournemouth were winless in their first nine Premier League games this season (drew three and lost six), before going on to win seven of their next nine. But they’re now winless in seven.

While Bournemouth, up in 13th, will be hoping to push further up into the safety of mid-table with three points today, it’s looking increasingly dire for Burnley.

Second bottom, with just 13 points from 26 games so far, they are 11 points adrift of 17th-place Nottingham Forest at the start of play.

Of course, Forest could yet have points taken off them - and Everton just above them - but it’s hard to argue at the moment that Burnley deserve to stay up.

They’ve won just three league games all season, losing 19 of those 26 matches.

Forward Enes Unal, who had a shoulder problem, is fit enough to be on the bench .

Clarets boss Vincent Kompany has made three changes from the side that lost 3-0 at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Captain Josh Brownhill is serving a suspension, while midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson and forward Zeki Amdouni drop to the bench.

In come Vitinho, Josh Cullen and Jacob Bruun Larsen. Cullen will captain the side.

Even with the threat of points deductions looming over some of their relegation rivals, things are starting to look a bit desperate for Burnley.

Stuck in 19th with only three league wins all season, Vincent Kompany’s side are 11 points shy of Nottingham Forest the other side of the relegation safety line.

At least Forest and Everton lost yesterday but that will count for nothing if the Clarets don’t pick up all three points at home to Bournemouth this afternoon.

The Cherries are 13th and have an eight-point cushion to the bottom three but they must not rest on their laurels if they’re to secure another top-flight season.
