I wish to have a statue built to celebrate me – Maame Dokono

In an interview with Blakk Rasta on 3FM’s Urban Blend show, veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, also known as Maame Dokono, shared her hope of having a statue built in her honor.

While she appreciates the recognition she’s received throughout her career, she believes a statue at Maame Dokono Park in Accra would better highlight her lasting impact.

Maame Dokono explained that the statue would not only celebrate her but also serve as inspiration for younger generations to chase their dreams and achieve success. She emphasized her desire to make a meaningful difference, helping motivate young people to continue her legacy.

However, the actress made it clear that she is not insisting on the idea, saying, “Yes! I think there should be my statue there for my legacy to be in the minds of the little ones who are coming because I am even in their books. If something like that could be erected in my honor, it will be a nice thing. I am not forcing anybody to do it but if it is done, fine.”

Her wish reflects a deep understanding of the importance of legacy and a continued dedication to giving back, even after a successful career in film and theater.
