Homeless man, 26, who posed as a Good Samaritan to help drunken woman he found staggering across London park home before raping her is jailed

A homeless man who posed as a 'Good Samaritan' to help a drunk woman he found staggering across a Central London park get home, has been jailed for rape. 

Louai Dahman preyed on the victim by posing as a chaperone, taking her on a bus from Green Park to her flat in South London, where he followed her inside and raped her, the court heard. 

The 26-year-old of no fixed address, who is now facing deportation, came across the victim in the Royal Park near Buckingham Palace at around 2.30am on July 15, 2022.

Dahman and the victim arrived at her home at around 5am, where she let herself in, got undressed and went to bed, the court heard.

Apparently assuming he was invited too, Dahman went inside and jumped into bed with her, where he raped her and sexually assaulted her. 

Louai Dahman was jailed for seven years and six months at Inner London Crown Court heard on Friday, April 12.  

William Saunders, prosecuting, said: 'It must have been obvious to him she was drunk and he was taking advantage of her.'

Dahman's barrister said his client thought he was invited into the flat, and 'took things the wrong way'.

'There may be a cultural difference in the lead-up,' the defence counsel argued, as they asked for the lowest possible sentence. 

Judge Freya Newbery said the victim was 'in a drunken stupor' and asleep when she was woken up by the act of penetration.

She said the victim was 'just about as vulnerable as you can be'.

'You thought she had given you a green light to have sex with her. Whether she had been drunk or vomiting, whether she was awake or asleep, that was your intention,' the judge said.

'She fell into sleep and she was awoken by you trying to, and committing, serious sexual assaults.

'She was woken from sleep when you were assaulting her in this way. At the same time, she was protesting and saying 'No no', trying but not succeeding to push you away.

'She has not got over what happened to her and it's really affected her trust and confidence in the people around her. She remains very upset and affected by it.'
