Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State announced that Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, the current Balogun of Ibadanland, will be installed as the Olubadan once he is physically capable of undergoing the coronation process.Makinde made this declaration on Saturday in Ibadan, during a state-organized burial ceremony for the late Olubadan, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Oke Ado.The Olubadan stool has been vacant since Oba Balogun's transition on March 14th this year. The Olubadan-in-Council, led by High Chief Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, nominated and appointed Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan.During the ceremony, Makinde assured attendees that Olakulehin's ascension will proceed once his health permits. He affirmed the state government's commitment to the council's recommendation and noted the amendments made to the Chieftaincy Laws of Oyo State, which now allow for smoother administrative processes."I have accepted the recommendation of the Olubadan-in-Council," Makinde stated. "Once Oba Olakulehin is strong enough, he will be enthroned as due process has been followed."Makinde's remarks underscored the importance of honoring traditional procedures while adapting to necessary health considerations, ensuring that Olakulehin will assume his role as soon as possible.
