Euro 2024: Rio Ferdinand picks best defender at tournament

Ex-England international, Rio Ferdinand, has named William Saliba as the best defender at Euro 2024.

Saliba has shone for France at the tournament after displacing Ibrahima Konate from the team.

In five matches, the Arsenal centre-back has not conceded once from open play.

Robert Lewandowski’s penalty during the group stages is the only goal France has allowed in so far.

“Nothing we’re seeing at this tournament is a surprise to anybody that’s been watching him play in the last season or so.

“He’s been magnificent, the calmness — he’s been the BEST performing centre-back at Euro2024,” Ferdinand said on BBC.
