Enyimba forward, Chijioke Mbaoma, has attributed the team’s defeat against Libya’s Al Ahly Benghazi to defensive lapses.

The Nigerian champions lost the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg contest 4-3.

The Aba giants put up a sloppy defensive display in the game.

Finidi George’s side also scored an own goal.

Mbaoma who scored Enyimba’s first goal said they were made to pay for their poor defending.

“Our plan in the game was to get a positive result,” he told the club’s media.
