A shirt calling for 'adventure time' in the city of Wolverhampton is leaving people in stitches.

The bizarre top was spotted by a British man on holiday in Taiwan, who shared a snap of it on Reddit

The name of the West Midlands hub is splashed across the piece in huge statement letters, next to designs of a world map and compass.

And to dispel any debates about where in the world it is, the sweater even has map coordinates for the city printed on.

Another line of text reads: 'While there is life there is hope.'

User u/DoddyUK was delighted by the unique fashion find while on his travels.

Sharing the photo on social media, he wrote: 'I'm currently on holiday in Taiwan. Just bought this shirt, the designer certainly has a good impression of Wolverhampton...'

Dozens of people commented their disbelief, quipping that 'there is no hope' in the city.

'Is the hope that you might leave Wolverhampton?' one asked.

'In my experience the adventure is finding the quickest way out of Wolverhampton,' a second added.

Elsewhere someone said that the shirt designer had 'clearly never been to Wolverhampton'.

Another joked: 'Whenever I go to Wolverhampton I always gleefully declare "adventure time!" to myself.'

Some also expressed confusion at the aesthetic choices made.

'Is Wolverhampton a big seafaring city nowadays?' one asked. 'I'm wondering about the nautical theme implied by the compass. Perhaps they're getting ahead of the game for global warming.'

One of the comments also commended the commitment to accurately presenting Wolverhampton.

'I'm more impressed that they went to the trouble of using the actual map coordinates of Wolverhampton. Could've put any old nonsense, but they actually did it right.'

Meanwhile some also suggested that the phrase 'while there is life there is hope' may have come from the city council's motto - 'Out of darkness, cometh light'.

'I wouldn't be surprised if they started with that and it's been lost in translation,' one said.
