Baby is found dead at London property: Police are treating death as 'unexpected'

Police are treating the death of a baby as 'unexpected' after the child's body was found at a property in east London yesterday. 

Met Police were called at 7:40pm on Tuesday to a property on Mimosa Close, Havering following reports for concerns of the welfare of a baby.

Officers discovered the body of the baby and are now treating the death as 'unexpected and under investigation'.

The force said that a scene remains in place at the address, while enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing. 

The Met Police said: 'At approximately 19:40hrs on Tuesday, 22 August police were called to an address in Mimosa Close, Havering following reports for concerns of the welfare of a baby.

'Officers attended. The body of a baby was located. At this time the death is being treated as unexpected and under investigation. A scene remains in place at the address. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.'
