The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and cultists in the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who stated this on Tuesday in Asaba, the state capital, noted that arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

He said, “On September 9, personnel of the Abraka Police Divisional Patrol Team, while on stop and search along the Agbara Road, Abraka, intercepted two suspects, Bala Abdul, 21, and Joseph Tejri, 24, on an unregistered motorcycle.

“In the process of searching them, one locally-made cut-to-size single-barrelled gun loaded with one live cartridge was recovered from Tejri, of Buowa Street, Abraka.

“A search warrant was further executed in his house and premises, where a live cartridge was recovered.”

Edafe said the same police team while working with vigilantes arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Franklyn Awana, of Okpogoro Abraka, with one locally-made pistol and 14 rounds of live cartridges on Ugbedi Road, Abraka.

He said the suspect confessed to belonging to the Eiye cult and claimed that the gun was handed over to him by a senior cult member.
